I am a WOMAN!

I was in labor for four whole hours! It was a natural delivery and my doctor even described it as an ‘easy delivery’. It wasn’t that painful as I expected but I would never never consider using the adjective EASY to describe what I just went through. Now I know why it’s called LABOR! LOZL

As I was going through scenarios on how I’m going punish my doctor for telling me that I was going to have an easy delivery when the nurse handed me my beautiful crying baby. All of the evil thoughts I had and especially the ‘pain’ from the “miracle of birth” was gone. When I saw my baby’s face I forgot all about it and started crying as well! How cliché right? Crying out of extreme happiness! No not like I-want-to-give-birth-again happy but more like I-haven’t-been-happier happy. LOZL

Though I don’t consider a childless person ‘incomplete’ but somehow I feel more of a woman now that I have given birth to my daughter. I am a WOMAN! Moreover, I am a MOTHER! Success!!!

It’s a bebi-GIRL!

Time for another ultrasound! At 27 weeks, the doctor should be able to tell me my baby’s sex. Other than determining my baby’s gender, the doctor would be looking for signs of abnormality and deformity. I did my best to keep myself healthy for my baby. I hope everything would pay off. I’m off to the doctor now!

-edit-

I wanted a 3D ultrasound and I definitely got one! So what exactly is a 3D ultrasound? The 3D machine still uses ultrasound to generate images of the fetus inside a woman’s womb however unlike the standard 2D ultrasound it is able to create a 3-dimensional image of the baby! So what about the new 4D ultrasound? A 4D ultrasound just means that the images are animated. LOZL

Anyway, it’s a GIRL! And according to my doctor, my baby is doing well. She showed no signs of abnormalities or whatever. So here is the prenatal sneak peek of my baby girl!

A few more weeks until I reach full term, I need baby stuff! I am now officially accepting donations! LOZL I need a name for my baby girl!

My First Ultrasound

Look look! My baby's first picture!

Ultrasound is used to visualize the embryo in my womb. Having an ultrasound is now a standard in prenatal care as it provides a variety of information regarding the health of the mother and of the fetus, as well as regarding the progress of the pregnancy. It's not advised to have more than 5 ultrasounds tho so as an expecting-mother try not to go over 5 to avoid exposing your baby to excessive high frequency sound that might damage the fetuses' brain.

Anyhow, I've got 4 more so I think I'll get
3D/4D ultrasound! LOZL I'll definitely have that one when I'm around 20 or more weeks into gestation.

Sabi ni Dok

My doctor prescribed vitamins, suggested I go on a maternal diet, and fervently reminded me to avoid teratogens (substances that cause developmental malformations) such as alcohol. Intake of alcohol during pregnancy can lead to fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), which can cause impaired growth and development, facial abnormalities, cardiac defects, and skeletal and joint malformations. I don’t smoke tobacco but I would have to avoid inhaling the smoke because it is believed to lower the birth weight of the fetus and is also associated with placenta praevia, abruptio placentae, and elevated maternal blood pressure. Of course illegal drugs are on the list! If it can cause loads of harm to someone who’s not pregnant, imagine the negative effects it may have on a fetus. I’m not a caffeine junkie but I was asked to limit my caffeine intake since excessive caffeine intake although not believed to have teratogenic effects, may account for low birth weight in infants. The doctor also gave me a list of over-the-counter medications and prescriptions drugs that are safe for pregnant women. She also told me not to hesitate to consult her before I take any drug that’s not on the list.

Am I excited? I’m not excited at all! (I already had my ultrasound scheduled! Ahahaha!) Anyway, please excuse me I have to buy these vitamins. LOL

Newsflash

I AM pregnant!

Tho I didn’t have fantasies of getting married when I was younger, I do believe I just might regret not having a child. That’s why I decided to have a baby! While I'm still a good candidate for getting pregnant I might as well do it now right? Hahaha!

PROBLEM: I'm single! This posed as a problem since last I checked I'm not the Virgin Mary and I absolutely can't pull-off an immaculate conception. LOZL Since I didn't want someone I know to father my child, I opted for artificial insemination by donor (AID). Of course I had the specimen checked before I had it in placed in my uterus! I don't want bad sperm thankyouverymuch. I had to undergo insemination twice within a 'treatment cycle' to raise the chances of conception. Now I'm pregnant! YAY!

I have to make another visit to the doctor next week...

I are pregnant?

I’ve been monitoring my body temperature lately and I’ve noticed that there is a continued elevation of the temperature curve after the time of my missed period. This is strongly suggestive of pregnancy! So I went out to buy home pregnancy test kits. Just to make sure. All 5 kits showed positive results! Biological tests for pregnancy depend on the production by the placenta of chorionic gonadotropin, an ovary-stimulating hormone. The tests have an accuracy of 95%, although false-negative tests have a 20% chance of showing up too. Therefore the results are not absolute and it is only highly probable that I am indeed pregnant. I better schedule an appointment with my doctor soon.
